NPM Paddy Farmers Apex Group, NRBC (Narayanpur Right Bank Canal), works in 23 villages of Devadurga Taluk in Raichur District.
NPM stands for Non-Pesticide Management, and is a pre-organic stage which promotes the replacement of synthetic pesticides with plant based formulations.
Presently, the Apex Group has 432 members and cultivates 890 acres of NPM Paddy.

Samarthya is a disability resource group for the Janara Network.
Two of the founding members of Janara Network (The Prathidwani Organisation of People with Disability (OPwD) and The Vishwachetana Araikedarara Samsthe) are groups promoted and supported by Samarthya.
ABOUT US
Samarthya was registered as a trust in 2013. Its name translates as ‘Potential‘. Its aim is to reduce the incidence of disability and ensure that Persons with Disability (PWDs – children or adults) achieve their maximum potential and lead an independent and meaningful life.
Samarthya currently runs four different centres in the districts of Koppal and Raichur and an outreach Community-based services covering the Kalyana Karnataka region, while our services have been accessed by PWDs from 16 districts in Karnataka.
OBJECTIVES
- To ensure early identification, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of PWDs
- To provide therapeutic services and therapeutic skills training to PWDs, their families and all stakeholders to enable independent living among PWDs
- To provide aids and appliances to increase the functional ability and environment modification for adaptability
- To provide appropriate vocational skills training and placement services aiding to economic independence
- To facilitate SHGs/ Federation of PWDS and their care givers; empowering them to have a united voice to demand their rights; to have a support group for all needs
- Establishment of Naandi social rehabilitation centre for persons with Spinal Cord Injury (NSRC)
- Promotion of inclusive education among deaf children and programmes designed to empower deaf youth
- To network, lobby and advocate with core aim to create an inclusive society
WHAT WE DO
- Assessment and follow-up clinics providing clinical support, referrals for surgeries and medicines, treatment, counselling and rehabilitation in preventing further or mitigating effects of the disability.
- Early intervention for Children with Disabilities (CWDs) screening, identification and providing treatment, therapy and functional skill training to aid to a better quality of life.
- Promoting and strengthening Inclusive education for CWDs, providing support in special needs like mobility, communication, sign language, lesson adaptations in personal and environmental systems.
- To enhance functional abilities, funds or resources are mobilized to provide aids and appliances suitable to the disability (ex. hearing aids, limbs, wheel chairs, tricycles, physiotherapy aids etc.).
- Functional adaptation of homes is made through simple modification are made by adding railings, constructing ramps etc., to make PWD more independent.
- Persons with Spinal Cord Injuries are rehabilitated by providing counselling, physiotherapy, paramedical support, training in independent living skills, aids and appliances, environmental adaptations and aid in accessing social security benefits through a structured approach, among others.
- Short stay camps for children with deafness, Cerebral Palsy or multiple disabilities are periodically organised, aiming to deliver specific skills such as day-to-day disability management, sign language, speech therapy, and special education, easing their way into mainstream society.
- Home based therapeutic services are provided to deaf children and young people, persons with Spinal Cord Injuries, mentally challenged, children with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities.
- Vocational Training in horticulture, tailoring and craft is given to women with disabilities and care givers and supported with placement services.
- Support to caregivers is given through counselling and skills training and forming support groups to ensure sustainable intervention,
- Facilitate organized groups of care givers, PWDs self-help groups, deaf clubs, at Taluk/district/ state level federations and networks to advocate for the rights of PWDs.
